DESCRIPTION Bright metallic blue colouration on this beautiful morpho from the family Nymphalidae. The metallic colour varies depending on angle of frame. The vivid blue colour and shiny wings that reflect the light make them easy to spot amidst the jungle canopy of the Amazon rainforest. The underside is a grey/brownish colour which helps with camouflage and feature 'eyespots' which also deter predators when they are at rest and their wings are closed. Only Males are blue which is caused by the way the light reflects off the microscopic scales on their wings.
Set in white matt.
