DESCRIPTION AKA Silky Owl. Large distinctive species of butterfly with fantastic eye spot markings resembling Owl eyes to warn off predators. The colours in this butterfly are very pretty pale cream with four yellow eyespots. PNG has 19 species of Taenaris all of which have wonderful markings.
