DESCRIPTION AKA Common Yellow Swallowtail. This papilio from the family Papilionidae was named after Machaon (ancient Greek: Μαχάων) a figure in Greek mythology. He was a son of Asclepius. The colours are very pretty ranging from lemon and black to a beautiful blue in the hind wings highlighted with two red spots. These are bred in captivity and are collected after they breed and then finish their life cycle.
