DESCRIPTION AKA Rothschild's Birdwing. The wing colours are a vivid green and golden yellow. The main threat to this butterfly is habitat loss and by ranching the wild population is protected. It is a species of butterflies in the family swallowtail butterflies and endemic to the Arfak Mountains. Wingspan is approx 11.5-12cm. This species was first recognised by entomologist Charles Edgar Pratt and described by George Kenrick in 1911. It was named in honour of Lord Walter Rothschild who financed most of the expeditions.
