DESCRIPTION As the name suggests this is indeed a goliath sized butterfly - being the second largest butterfly world wide with the females having a wingspan of around 18cm whilst the males have a slightly smaller wingspan. The females lay approximately 30 eggs per generation and the larvae feed on the Aristolochia crassinervia vine.The wing colours are a vivid green and golden yellow. The main threat to this butterfly is habitat loss and by ranching the wild population is protected. This ventral side shows an amazing golden colour.
