DESCRIPTION Big mandibles on this giant sized lucanid AKA Stag beetle. The menacing mandibles are used when males are fighting over territory or females. Note the lovely rich golden brown on the elytra. These beetles feed on rotten fruit or tree sap whilst the larvae feed on rotting wood. Fantastic specimen.
Set in white matt board species label back of frame.
