FRAME 20x20xD5cm Made from recycled products.
DESCRIPTION AKA Godart's Morpho. Metallic light blue colouration on this extra large butterfly. Named after the French entomologist Jean Baptiste Godart. There are 29 species of Morpho. Their iridescent colouring is a result of the microscopic scales on the wings which reflect light. The underside is a dull brownish colour usually with various eyespots which deter predators when wings are closed and also provide great camouflage when perched on trees or bushes.
PLEASE NOTE COLOURATION MAY VARY from pale to medium blue
Set in white matt species label at back of frame. A must for the collector of Morphos.
Please note all Morpho butterflies are mounted without abdomen. The abdomen of the Morpho emits a grease like substance which stains the backboard. All professional mounts will not have an abdomen attached.
