DESCRIPTION Fantastic assortment of Lucanid beetles. Lucanids are saproxylic beetles, dependent on dead, moribund and decaying wood. There are approximately 800 species of stag beetles with varying colours and sizes. They have large mandibles which they use to defend themselves and come in a variety of sizes and colours.
