DESCRIPTION AKA Western Hercules Beetle. This species of Rhinoceros beetle has a most unusual camouflage colouring of taupe/grey speckled with a little black thus when hiding under dead tree trunks makes them difficult for predators to disturb. Being nocturnal they are often seen near bright street lights and are one of the largest beetle found in the USA. They feed on tree sap. The male shown has a large horn which is missing from the smaller female.
Not often stocked.
