DESCRIPTION AKA The Leafwing. This bright rust coloured butterfly is common in the eastern tropics and subtropics of Queensland and just south of the border into NSW and sometimes in gardens. The males are strong fliers and often perch in sunny patches with wings half way opened. The underside mimics a dead leaf. The larvae of these butterflies has a deep-blue iridescent spines and can be seen on larval food plants such as Ruellia and Strobilanthes
