FRAME   25.5x28.5xD5cm Made from recycled products. 

DESCRIPTION AKA Hercules Atlas Moth. This is Australias largest moth and found in North Queensland. The female shown is a little larger than the male and can reach up to 27cm in length. The colours are rusty brown creams and black. The female is stouter than the male and has shorter thicker wings and abdomen. It has small transparent windows on each wing which is said to be a camouflage aid. The caterpillars are huge and feed on several rainforest trees, but prefer the leaves of the Bleeding Heart Tree, Omalanthus sp They have no mouthparts and only live for 5-7 days.

Rarely available. These specimens are hand reared in Australia.
