DESCRIPTION  Rainbow metallic colours on both sides of this beautiful day flying moth. Also known as the Sunset moth for obvious reasons. The colours on the Madagascan sunset moth's wings are produced by the conjunction of two optical phenomena namely optical interference and inter scale reflection. It is endemic to the Island of Madagascar where large migrations are seen in certain months. The bright metallic colours are a warning to predators of their toxicity.

This framed moth is one of our best sellers and features in many of our frames
